Thanks to "all-of-you" for giving us a marvelous show! You brought back so many great memories with those songs you played and helped make the picnic one of our best! Sorry 'bout the heat! May you have many more years of playing your fine music.

Dear David,

On behalf of SOS, I want to thank you for lending your talents to our recent sing-along picnic. As you could tell by the applause, the audience loved you, and so did we.

In the ten years that we've been doing our picnic, I don't remember any other instance when the picnickers demanded an encore - and we've had some wonderful talent. Please extend our thanks to Michael and Danny, and tell Danny that the bass harp knocked out the assembled throng! I look forward to hearing more from all of you. Thanks again.

All good wishes,

I wanted to take a moment to congratulate and thank the trio for your wonderful performance at our inaugural season of the Under the Elms Summer Arts Series in Athens, Ohio. I knew when I heard you the summer of 2002 at the Ohio State Fair that our community in southeastern Ohio would also love your performance of harmonica music as much as I had. And I was correct!

Not only are the three of you exquisite musicians, you also bring to an audience a new experience all wrapped up in a great package of fun interaction and very accessible tunes. Our audience was mesmerized with the concept of the music coming from harmonicas as well as your wonderful personalities.

Thanks for assisting us in our kick off summer season. Your performances helped us set a very high standard of quality and family fun and left our audiences eager for another summer arts series.

My staff and I look forward to working with you three again soon,

Sincerely,
Gretchen L. Stephens

I've been in the Harmonica business for over 70 years, active as a professional virtuoso, as well as an orchestrator, arranger and composer. I guess in my career, I've heard them all. As far back as Borrah Minevitch's Harmonica Rascals, to the trios from Europe and Israel, and even including Jerry Murad's Harmonicats, I have listened to every conceivable combination of Harmonica and other instruments, but the only group that raises "goosebumps" on my skin, and makes me turn green with envy is the Dave McKelvy Trio. They are, without reservation, the ultimate... the very best! Superb arrangements. Marvelous playing. Great presentation. What else can you ask?

Respectfully, and with envy,

Being in show business most of my life, and currently working on cruise ships for the past 38 years, I have heard all kinds of harmonica soloists, trios and harmonica bands and I must say that the Dave McKelvy Trio is the finest harmonica act I have had the good fortune of hearing and seeing in performance. I am honored to be their friend. If you ever have a chance, don't miss them.

I wanted to take a moment to tell you what a great job Dave McKelvy’s Harmonica Trio did this weekend at the Pinal County Fairgrounds. They truly are professionals. They drew great crowds at all of their sets, worked with us regarding staging and even did a change up from one stage to another between sets. They are exactly the kind of professionals we need in this business.

A note of interest: during the final performance, David mentioned his surprise at being invited to a Fiddler and Blue Grass Jamboree. After he made the comment, during the following song, I took a moment to scan the audience and noticed a wide age span sitting and listening to the group - I would say from about 4 to 80+. In each of these generational segments I saw smiles and was pleased to see that the youngest ages were bopping along with the music, obviously enjoying it as much as their elder counterparts.

Considering how easy they are to work with, the demographic span of appreciation, and their sheer talent, I would recommend the Dave McKelvy Trio for any event or venue. I look forward to working with them again in the near future.

Just a short note remembering the time Lois and I caught the Dave McKelvy Trio at Largo in Hollywood. You were right: Jon Brion (with whom you shared the bill) was incredible. But, so were you guys - a great act, great playing and great stage presence. You are my favorite harmonica trio.

What can I say. You guys are GREAT!

Your performance Tuesday evening for the Merced Trade Club was a rousing success. When an entire audience of over 300 gives you a standing ovation you know you did something wonderful.

All of us at Phoenix Producers Group look forward to additional engagements for the Dave McKelvy Trio.

If anyone wants a reference, have them call me and I'll be happy to tell them what a superb act you guys are.

If you are looking for quality on-grounds entertainment that provides some much needed variety then I highly recommend the Dave McKelvy Trio. We have had the good fortune to book them the past two years and they have drawn excellent crowds. Their music is unique, high energy and very entertaining for people of all ages.

To The Dave McKelvy Trio

On September 7th you traveled to San Diego to perform at our Annual Gathering of our flying organization "The Quiet Birdmen". We thank you for coming that distance first of all.

Our group routinely starts off this event by socializing with each other. Many of our group are ex-military pilots from WWII. Your music complimented that period of visiting time very appropriately. We could talk and still hear your beautiful sounds at a reasonable volume. Many commented that you played the type of music that brought back many good memories.

Again, our members were pleased with your performance and would certainly consider having your group again. Thank you very much for filling the hangar with those great sounds.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr Wilson,

The members of the San Diego Hangar of the national organization of the Quiet Birdmen have requested that I send this note of thanks to you and your harmonica band for the very pleasant and entertaining music that was provided for us at our annual "Wing Ding" party here in San Diego. We particularly enjoyed the renditions of "Stardust", "St Louis Blues", and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" as well as other all-time favorites.

You may use this letter as an unqualified endorsement of the Dave McKelvy Trio.

So who was the best trio at the show? No question! The Dave McKelvy Trio came in to close the show on Thursday night after doing 3 shows at the Ohio State Fair and blew us all away. Dave McKelvy played lead on diatonic and chromatic (frequently switching back and forth in the same number). Michael Burton was masterful on the chord, and Danny Wilson was Danny Wilson at his best on the bass. Their “Orange Blossom Special” was a tour-de-force that took brilliant side trips through the “William Tell Overture” and the “Minute Waltz.”

I was absolutely thunder struck. One has only to see all the places you are appearing (some mighty big venues, I might add) to note that the trio is in demand. You play what people want to hear. A little bit of everything. AND you play it flawlessly. Please please keep up the tradition just as you have been.

Still mesmerized.....

WOW - what a trio! You guys really ran away with the show at the SPAH Convention this year. There has never been a trio that could touch the McKelvy Trio - the hottest group in show biz today. The playing was superb, the selection of tunes was tops and the difficulty of the arrangements was incredible.

What a work-out. Jeeze - - - I was tired out just watching you guys. I admire all of you for that performance. I was thrilled - haven't felt so inspired since I was a kid. We sure hope to see your trio again soon.

Re: Dave McKelvy Trio appearance at the 2002 El Paso County Fair

It is without reservation that we heartily recommend The Dave McKelvy Trio to any event planner or entertainment coordinator. They delivered many memorable performances at our traditional event.

Quality entertainment is imperative to the success of the El Paso County Fair, now in its 97th year. Drawing more than 40,000 people to the nine-day event is always a challenge.

Not only is the trio an excellent draw and crowd satisfier, its members are extremely easy to work with, professional and flexible. They are true ambassadors of their art.

Our office has received many positive comments regarding their performance.

Members of my staff, event organizers, supporters and I highly recommend The Dave McKelvy Trio for performances in any venue.

Thank you,
Jim W Abendshan

Gentlemen,

You gave us a great treat! We loved your concert and were stunned by your instruments. We were grateful for your explanations as we are surely one of your most naive and ignorant audiences. Our lives haven’t included experiences so eye-opening. Please come again.
