The Harmonicats name is well known - a trio of harmonica virtuosos at their best.

The founding members from 1944 were Jerry Murad, Al Fiore and Don Les. They produced a hit recording, "Peg O' My Heart", in 1947 that sold 20+ million copies and remained on the top 10 charts for 20 weeks - 10 times at number one!

Over the years there have been several changes in the group. Although the original members have long since passed, their style still remains. Today's Cats, Mo Vint, Michael Burton and Danny Wilson, continue to play the old favorite arrangements of The Harmonicats, but have also added new stylings to bring them up to date with today's sounds. And they include a few comedy routines that can only be done with the harmonica... plus a few other surprises along the way. Each member, in his own right, is an accomplished musician. Their style of music brings back memories for the older generation, but the younger audience has also found a new sound and group to admire and enjoy.

Following is a letter, dated December 28, 2004, from famed Chicago radio DJ, Eddie Hubbard, who unknowingly "discovered" The Harmonicats in February 1947:

"I still feel very fortunate to have been part of The Harmonicats success.

The story is that they had just finished recording two songs at Universal Recording Studios which was two blocks away from my radio studio. Within a short time they brought in an acetate of each song. I needed a short song to end the first hour of my show and saw that Peg was just short enough so I played it first.

I never had a chance to play the second song because the switchboard lit up like a sky rocket. I have never to this day seen such instant reaction to a song or artists. It was overwhelming.

I remember those guys fondly. They were top notch people."
