The Funks and President Bush

June 24, 2003

The Funks are invited to the White House
We will be guests for recognition...
We couldn't pass security regarding our instruments...
I guess they think our instruments could be used as weapons...
I'm not sure what they expect of us...
I'll let you know, when I get home....

Report from Joe. . . .

They're going mad with Security... The Funks were checked several times...
We went through metal detectors, and checked again...
It was "Black History Month"... A tribute to Duke Ellington...
I was delighted to be there...

When I was introduced to the President, I said "Hello Mr. President"...
He said nothing... He looked startled...
I guess he expected to see an all black group...
I like to say, "No one wrote a script for him to respond to hello."

During the performance I sat behind
Mr and Mrs Bush, and Condoleezza Rice...

The White House is a beautiful building...
Now I know where our tax dollars are going.

Hey! The Funks are Going on Tour!
